News Mentor Graphics Corporation announced the call-for-entries for its first annual FloEFD™ Frontloading Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Award.

Frontloading CFD refers to the practice of moving CFD simulation early into the design process, enabling design engineers to examine and evaluate design options, resulting in optimized product performance and reliability.

Application Japanese architectural firm, Nikken Sekkei Ltd. developed the award-winning BioSkin to meet the challenges of creating environmentally-friendly and energy-saving architectural technologies.

Crafted with the idea of "improving the environment with large-scale architecture," and inspired by traditional Japanese air-cooling techniques, Nikken Sekkei set out to build the world's first "blind-like" exterior system that reduces heat in the building's vicinity on the entire east wall of the 25-story Sony City Osaki office building.

Announcements CD-adapco will host Designing Under-Body Components Using Leading Wading Simulation Methods on June 30, 2016.

Vehicle water wading capabilities refer to vehicle functional part integrity (engine under-tray, bumper cover, plastic sill cover, etc.) when traveling through water. Wade testing involves vehicles being driven through different depths of water at various speeds. The test is repeated and under-body functional parts are inspected afterwards for damage/leakage.

News Resolving the often-intricate fluid dynamics taking place next to moving boundaries and surfaces, or how these tiny structures influence the motion of the surfaces and the surrounding environment is a difficult computational task.

Dr. Robert Saye, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s (Berkeley Lab’s) 2014 Luis Alvarez Fellow in Computing Sciences, has published his work on Interfacial Gauge Methods for Incompressible Fluid Dynamics which promises to make the task easier.
