New Software: UberCloud Announces Collaboration with Microsoft Azure

News Microsoft and UberCloud agreed to cross-publish engineering and scientific cloud products on their online marketplaces. They started with OpenFOAM, an open source computational fluid dynamics simulation software from OpenCFD Ltd. (ESI Group), widely used in the engineering and scientific design and development community.

Application: Computer Simulations May Help Golfers Tame the Sport’s 'Scariest 155 Yards'

Application Johns Hopkins engineers have devised a computer model to unravel the wicked wind conditions that plague the world’s greatest golfers at a course that hosts one of the sport’s most storied tournaments, The Masters, in Augusta, Ga.

Rajat Mittal, an aerodynamics expert and professor of mechanical engineering in Johns Hopkins’ Whiting School of Engineering, who also describes himself as a recreational golfer, developed this system with Neda Yaghoobian, a postdoctoral visiting scholar on his lab team.

He will manage business operations for the Albuquerque-based company, which markets its Barracuda Virtual Reactor® simulation software and provides support services to process industries worldwide for design and optimization of fluidized systems.

Dr. Favier brings over 20 years experience in development and marketing of simulation software for granular solids and is the founder, and formerly CEO, of DEM Solutions Ltd, the market leader in bulk solids simulation software.
