News A delusion is a strongly held belief despite superior evidence to the contrary.

Almost every person who has performed a CFD analysis has experienced delusion to some degree at one time or another.  The thrill that CFD creates by enabling us to visualize the invisible tempts us to believe the fluid always behaves exactly as calculated. Application By John Rhoads, Ph.D.
Senior Engineer, Pointwise

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is essentially a series of approximations; the role of the practitioner is managing the magnitude of the errors in these approximations. In CFD, one of the most basic approximations lies in the type of cells used for the simulation. This article will address some of the potential pitfalls encountered with a generic cell-centered finite volume scheme.
