Business: Mike Remotigue Joins Pointwise

News Dr. Michael Remotigue, veteran computational fluid dynamics researcher, has joined the development team at Pointwise, Inc. after nearly 21 years at Mississippi State University.

Dr. Remotigue is best known for his work on the unstructured mesh generation software SolidMesh and SolidMesh++.

CD-adapco Triples HPC Power

News CD-adapco has enhanced its high performance computing (HPC) environment using Dell blade server and networking systems.

The cluster now allows CD-adapco's 350 engineers to run multiple computational fluid dynamics (CFD) applications simultaneously, allowing for a three-fold increase in the number of jobs they can process at any given time, or allowing single jobs to be run at a much higher speed.

News The latest release of Caedium (v4.0) from Symscape can perform CFD simulations for free surfaces, such as those that form between water and air around a ship's hull.

The new version of Caedium also contains an extensive array of other enhancements that will help you efficiently simulate more physically realistic phenomena.

News Following the recent announcement at the 7th OpenFOAM® Workshop in Darmstadt, Germany, Engys is proud to announce the Beta release of Helyx-OS v1.0.0, a free-to-use GUI designed to work with the latest OpenFOAM® release.

The GUI is developed using Java+VTK and delivered to the public under the GNU General Public License.

Announcements Pointwise, Inc. will present a free webinar Structured Meshing for Low-Speed Ship Maneuvering Simulations at 11 a.m. CDT on 22 Aug.

The accuracy and reduced cell count provided by structured meshes are nearly a prerequisite for ship resistance prediction for naval vessels because of free-surface effects and very high Reynolds numbers.
