News Each fall at technical universities across the world, a new crop of aeronautical and astronautical engineering graduate students settle in for the work that will consume them for the next several years.

For many, their first experience in these early months is not with titanium or aluminum or advanced carbon-fiber materials that are the stuff of airplanes, but with computer code.

Announcements ERCOFTAC will host Uncertainty Management and Quantification in Industrial Analysis & Design in Paris, France on 15-16 May 2012.

Uncertainty quantification is a new paradigm in industrial analysis and design as it aims at taking into account the presence of numerous uncertainties affecting the behavior of physical systems. Dominating uncertainties can be either be operational (such as boundary conditions) and/or geometrical resulting from unknown properties, such as tip clearances of rotating compressor blades or from manufacturing tolerances.

News Flow Science has entered into a collaboration with Sigma Technology (Moscow, Russia), developer of the high-efficiency, multi-dimensional nonlinear optimization software known as IOSO.

Sigma recently released IOSO 2.04, which has direct integration to FLOW-3D.
