B÷ttcher Named Pointwise Meshy Award Winner

News Dr. Michael B÷ttcher of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology was named winner of the Pointwise Meshy Award at the Pointwise User Group Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas on 10 November.

A design combining three meshes by Dr. B÷ttcher is featured on the T-shirt presented to meeting participants. Additionally, he was presented with a plaque and his name has been engraved on the Meshy Award trophy.

Announcements Mentor Graphics will host Simulating and Optimizing Mixing Processes in Product Design using CFD on November 16th at 2 PM EST.

Some of the challenges inherent with manifold systems are high temperatures and the uniform mixing of two gases. These issues will be analyzed simultaneously through simulation using Mentor Graphics' CFD analysis software for mechanical engineers FloEFD.

CFD Analysis Proven Effective for Detecting Coronary Problems

News A new technique that applies fluid dynamics theories to datasets from noninvasive coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) to quantify fractional flow reserve (FFR) showed good correlation with FFR while proving more accurate than CCTA for detecting ischemia-causing coronary lesions according to a study published Nov. 1 in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

News Flow Science, Inc. announces the availability of a new release of FLOW-3D/MP, the distributed memory version of its flagship CFD software, FLOW-3D. FLOW-3D/MP v4.2 features hybrid parallelization that incorporates MPI and OpenMP architecture and offers users a substantial increase in performance with scaling to as many as 256 cores and runtime improvements of as much as 60x over the comparable FLOW-3D release.
