News The latest release of Pointwise’s mesh generation software for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) meshing features CAE plug-in, an API for customizing the product to export mesh and boundary condition data for a CFD solver or other CAE software file format.

“Even though Pointwise supports a broad variety of standard, de facto standard, and proprietary file formats to which grids can be exported, there’s always one more we haven’t yet implemented,” said Patrick Baker, Pointwise’s manager of product development. “With the CAE plug-in interface, Pointwise’s customers can implement their own custom exporter and have it working within hours.”

New Software: FloVENT v8 Targeted at Design Engineers
Posted Fri April 09, 2010 @09:24AM
Print version Email story Tweet story
News Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced the release of the FloVENT® v8 solution with significant enhancements in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) model creation, solution performance and results visualization.

These enhancements to the already well proven technology of the FloVENT tool enable design engineers of built environments, data centers and clean rooms to quickly set up build scenarios and accurately analyze them for proper cooling, heating, contamination control and ventilation. The result is higher productivity for the designer and the ability to run more “what-if” variants, thus converging on the best design possible.

Symscape's Caedium Helps F1 in Schools Team Capture Australian Championship
Posted Tue April 06, 2010 @09:06AM
Print version Email story Tweet story
News CFD simulations performed using Caedium Professional helped Basilisk Performance become the 2009 F1 in Schools Australian National Champions.

The air flow simulations provided 3D visualization of pressure and velocity, along with drag and downforce values. Chief designer Brett Sizeland then used these results to guide the aerodynamic design of the team's CO2 dragster in order to minimize its drag and deliver a well earned victory.
