Hardly a day goes by where we don't hear about the rising cost of energy, its scarcity and the impacts of using fossil fuels on the global environment. The media and the general public seem to focus primarily on vehicular and power plant energy consumption as our largest pollution concerns. On the other hand, data from the US Energy Information Administration[1] has revealed that the largest single energy consumer in the United States is in the building sector at 48% of the total national consumption - a staggering 48.17 Quadrillion Btu in the year 2000.

ANSYS ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced the latest release of ANSYS® Icepak® software, which provides robust and powerful fluid dynamics technology for electronics thermal management.

The 12.0 release introduces new solutions for printed circuit board (PCB) and package thermal analysis, new and enhanced technology for meshing complex geometry, and new physical modeling capabilities.

Events: Course on Axial Turbine Fundamentals and Turbomachinery Design

Announcements On September 21-25, 2009, in Dusseldorf, Germany, SoftInWay will conduct a 5-day intensive course for engineers involved in turbomachinery design, redesign, optimization and retrofitting. The course consists of two parts: Axial Turbine Fundamentals and AxSTREAM Interactive Workshop on Turbomachinery Flow Path Design and Optimization.

Both parts are independent, so the participant can choose one of them, or register for both. The training is taught by experienced engineers from SoftInWay having the appropriate academic and industrial background in turbomachinery.

ANSYS ANSYS will hold the webinar series Integrated Simulation Environment for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Electric Vehicles (EV) in two parts during July.

Integrating high-fidelity electromagnetic and electromechanical physics based models into a system level simulation can assist the engineers in optimizing drive performance as well as controlling harmonics and mitigating conducted and radiated EMI/EMC. These webinars will review the methodology employed to achieve this integration.
