Announcements SoftInWay is offering a free webinar covering the design and re-design of the flow-path of high-efficiency steam and gas turbines. The webinar will be held Thursday, May 14, at 10 a.m. EST and again at 4 p.m. EST.

The interactive webinar includes a 40-minute presentation where engineers from SoftInWay will share their experience in the areas of design, re-design, analysis, and optimization of steam and gas turbine flow paths. Their will also be time for open discussions between attendees and the SoftInWay professionals.

News Intelligent Light founder Steve Legensky appeared on Microsoft's Inside Out show to discuss high performance computing and CFD simulation.

In the video, Steve demonstrates the complex mathematics used by CFD engineers and talks about how HPC has evolved in the CFD industry over the past 20 years.

CD-adapco This online live demonstration will illustrate in detail an example of how Oil and Gas companies are using CFD on a daily basis to impact their designs. STAR-CCM+ will be used for the demonstration to show a complete process from importing geometry, geometry cleanup and surface wrapping, applying a mesh, setting up physics, running the simulation, through to post-processing examples for results visualization.

The webinar will be held 23 April, 2009 Time: 16:00 GMT (11 AM EDT, 17:00 CET).

Announcements Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is increasingly being used to model and optimize droplet-based microfluidic devices. Success of these devices depends on the ability to accurately control micro-scale fluid volumes. These devices rely on a combination of hydrodynamic and electrostatic forces.

Flow Science will host a webinar on April 28, 2009 from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM EDT describing FLOW-3D capabilities for simulating these devices.
