New Software: AcuSolve Supports Windows HPC Server 2008

News ACUSIM Software, Inc., a provider of leading computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solutions for engineers and scientists, today announced that AcuSolve, the company’s flagship solver, now supports Microsoft Windows HPC Server 2008, a server operating system designed for the high-performance computing (HPC) market.

This announcement gives mainstream computer-aided engineering (CAE) users access to a scalable, accurate, and performance-driven CFD solution in the familiar Windows HPC environment.

News The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) invites you to collaborate in a unique project, "Standardization of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Techniques Used to Evaluate Performance and Blood Damage Safety in Medical Devices."

The purpose of this project is to determine how computational fluid dynamics can be effectively used to characterize fluid flow and to predict blood damage in medical devices.

Application An Auto Speed article describes how vortex generators are now being used on a variety of high performance cars to lower drag.

In designing vortex generators for the Evo Lancer, Mitsubishi engineers used a combination of testing and CFD to optimize the design.

Application: Flow Simulation Improves Photovoltaic Solar Panel Performance

Application Schueco, one of the leading producers of photovoltaic panels, used Flomerics’ Flovent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to redesign its products to improve their thermal performance so that 15% to 20% more panels can be used in a given space.

Today’s photovoltaic panels present a major thermal design challenge since every degree Centigrade of temperature rise reduces the power produced by 0.5%.
