News SoftInWay relaunches its AxSTREAM Educational Version for Design and Optimization of Turbomachinery Flow Paths. The current version has a new key element - Streamline Solvers.

The beginning of this academic year was marked by a special offer from SoftInWay focused on improving the turbomachinery design experience. The company announces a bundle for its turbomachinery education version meant for use in colleges and universities.

Business: Tubbesing and Future Facilities Partner to Optimize Data Center Cooling Efficiency

News Future Facilities and Tubbesing Sales Company’s subsidiary Data Center Planners (DCP) have announced a partnership aimed at providing improved data center cooling solutions to companies in Texas and Oklahoma.

DCP will model and simulate data centers using Future Facilities 6SigmaDC product suite. DCP will also sell and support 6SigmaDC.

OpenFOAM CoAuthor to be Pointwise Visiting Researcher

News Pointwise announced today Prof. Hrvoje Jasak of Wikki Ltd. and University of Zagreb, Croatia will collaborate with Pointwise this autumn as a visiting researcher.

Prof. Jasak is a coauthor of OpenFOAM, a C++ library and software suite for numerical simulation in continuum mechanics. He will work with Pointwise’s development team on implementing a native interface between Pointwise’s meshing software and OpenFOAM.

New Software: Upgrades Released for Tecplot 360 2008 and Tecplot Focus 2008

News Tecplot, Inc. has released upgrades for two of its industry-leading software products, Tecplot 360 2008 and Tecplot Focus 2008.

The upgrades help users create images and plots more quickly, display time and date on any axis, and generate enhanced non-Flash animations for PowerPoint.

New Software: OpenFVM v1.0 Released

Open Source The OpenFVM project is pleased to announce the release of OpenFVM v1.0.

OpenFVM is a general three-dimensional multiphase non-isothermal unstructured flow solver. This release contains a a new parallel implementation using the PETSc library.

The ancient Greeks first coined the term “krystallos” to describe both quartz and ice, which they actually believed to be different forms of the same matter. Today, in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota (UMN), Ph.D. candidate David Gasperino and Senior Research Associate Andrew Yeckel, Ph.D., working under the supervision of Professor Jeffrey Derby, are incorporating EnSight extreme 3D visualization software from CEI, Inc. of Apex, NC into a project that, much like the crystals they study, is a building block for future research.
