ANSYS The 2007 ANSYS U.S. Regional Conference Series: MICHIGAN will be held in Dearborn, Michigan on September 10 -11, 2007.

The conference is intended for all ANSYS and FLUENT customers and prospective customers in all industries. Presenters include, but are not limited to representatives from Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Dow Chemical, Delphi Corporation, Daimler Chrysler, Tenneco Automotive, Pratt & Miller Engineering, Owens Corning and Honda.

Application: High Efficiency Coolers and Fans Developed with EFD.Pro

Application Bronswerk Heat Transfer BV uses EFD.Pro, an easy-to-use general purpose engineering fluid dynamics software from Flomerics Ltd., to develop new air-cooled coolers and innovative fans with the potential to make an enormous impact in industries requiring a "greener" solution.

While traditionally such apparatus has a thermodynamic efficiency of up to 60%, their new designs based on the new fan achieve up to 80% efficiency. The potential energy savings worldwide can be staggering as their product can save 15% of the electricity it uses. These savings could result in 20% savings in generation capacity in Holland alone over the course of 10 years.

CD-adapco CD-adapco announces the release of the STAR-CAD Series V4.12, a range of CAD and PLM-embedded simulation environments that allow engineers and designers to perform advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses.

This new version of the STAR-CAD Series includes: STAR-CAT5 -CAAV5 Based software- for CATIA V5, STAR-Pro/E for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, STAR-NX for NX and STAR-Works for SolidWorks.

Announcements A Workshop on Computational Electromagnetics, jointly organized by Zeus Numerix Mumbai, NARL, S.V. University College of Engineering, and IETE Tirupati-Sub Center Tirupati in Electrical Engg Dept of SVUCE Tirupati, will be held from August 29th to 31st, 2007.

The workshop is aimed at training engineers in the basic theory behind Computational Electromagnetics and to give them a hands on experience with the ZnCEMExpert™ software.

Application: America's Cup Winner Aided by CFD

Application ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, announced that the winner of the 32nd America's Cup, Alinghi, used ANSYS technology to predict the effects of design changes on yacht performance.

With both finalists' yacht designs optimized with ANSYS simulation software, Alinghi and its challenger were each prepared to take home the Cup, but Alinghi successfully crewed their racing yacht to defend the America's Cup, the most prestigious and elite competition in the yachting calendar.
