New Software: Analyzing Fluid-Structure Interaction with STAR-CD and ABAQUS
Posted Tue March 06, 2007 @03:52PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
News CD-adapco, a world leader in full-Spectrum flow, thermal, and stress simulation solutions, announces the availability of a powerful coupled-analysis capability for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) utilizing STAR-CD, their technology-leading Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, and ABAQUS, from the SIMULIA brand of Dassault Systèmes (DS), a world leader in 3D and product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions.

This new FSI solution builds on the strategy of CD-adapco to partner with best-in-class technology providers, such as SIMULIA, to deliver a broad range of multiphysics simulation solutions. The bi-directional coupling leverages a strong partnership with Dassault Systèmes and the independent, open solution for the coupling—MpCCI software from Fraunhofer SCAI—to enable STAR-CD and ABAQUS to work together to solve a wide range of important FSI problems.

CFD's Expanding Role
Posted Fri March 02, 2007 @06:25PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
News The Desktop Engineering article CFD's Expanding Role describes how improvements in several key areas has lead to new and old users embracing CFD in new applications.
Paul Bemis, Fluent’s vice president of product management, offers this straightforward perspectives. “In the past, CFD was used by people who had no choice, working on jets, rockets, and overheated car engines,” he says. “They used CFD primarily as a forensic tool to understand failure. Now, with better predictability (results), people use CFD to help with the design decision process, hoping to optimize at the beginning.”
