The Elmer Sperry Board of Award is pleased to announce that Antony Jameson, Thomas V. Jones Professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University in Stanford, California, has been chosen to receive the 2006 Elmer A. Sperry Award.
The Elmer A. Sperry Award was established in 1955 to commemorate the life of Elmer A. Sperry, whose many inventions – including the gyroscope, the first electric automobile, and aid and sea navigational aids – contributed to the advancement of many modes of transportation. The award, consisting of a certificate and medal, will be presented to Jameson on January 7, 2007, in conjunction with the AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting in Reno, Nevada.

MCAD Online has posted a
review of the TecPlot 360 post processing software. TecPlot 360 is CFD & Numerical Simulation Visualization Software. It combines vital engineering plotting with advanced data visualization in one tool.
The developer’s background is within the CFD industry, so the availability of CGNS, Fluent, KIVA, and PLOT3D including name and boundary files shouldn’t come as a surprise. In addition, the system allows you to directly read FEA-focussed datasets from Abaqus, Ansys, Fidap, LS-Dyna, MSC.Nastran, MSC.Patran, PAM-Crash, SDRC-Ideas.

NAFEMS, The International Association for the Engineering Analysis Community, has announced the Symposium on the Integration of Analysis in Product Design, to be held on November 13th 2006 in Chicago, Illinois.
NAFEMS is an independent not-for-profit body with the sole aim of promoting the effective use of engineering simulation methods such as finite element analysis, multibody system dynamics and computational fluid dynamics.
Integrating analysis with the product design process is one of the most talked about topics in the analysis community today. Software vendors, industrial users, and engineering managers all realize the vital importance of timely integration of analysis in the design process, but the visions, opinions and priorities placed on this can vary from one company to the next.
