Application: ANSYS CFX is the CFD Tool of Choice for LaunchPoint’s Pediatric Maglev VAD
Posted Sun September 17, 2006 @03:04PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
Application At Goleta-area venture engineering firm LaunchPoint Technologies, simulation and virtual prototyping have become an integral part of the engineering design cycle. With tight project schedules and limited budgets being commonplace, engineers are often required to predict the performance of new designs or processes even before they reach manufacturing. So by rigorously maintaining the importance of simulation analysis in design optimization of a flow system, LaunchPoint is able to exceed the increasing expectations of demanding clients.

But experts in fields such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) need powerful tools to enable their expertise, and not all CFD solutions are created equal. That is why LaunchPoint Technologies has selected ANSYS® CFX® as the simulation tool of choice for the design of the Pediatric VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) currently being researched.

International Journal of Fluid Power Reviews CFdesign for Pump Design
Posted Mon September 11, 2006 @03:50PM
Print version Email story Tweet story
News CFdesign v8.0 is featured in a Software Review in the Auguest issue of the International Journal of Fluid Power. The article reviews the process for using the software in pump development and provides details on technical capabilities unique to CFdesign.
Throughout the history of pump design, there has always been a significant effort dedicated to improving pump efficiency, increasing duty cycle, and broadening operating range. Engineers have been faced with the task of creating multiple castings for housings, impellers, and other machine components only to find that they could be made better after-the-fact. More prototypes were made until the budget of the project required a final prototype to go into production. From the beginning, CFdesign was developed to exist as a tool on the desktop of engineers tasked with the creation of new pump designs.
