New Software: Alpha-Novatech Adds HeatSinkDesigner Library

News Alpha-Novatech, a well-know supplier of heat sinks, has made their products available for download in HeatSinkDesigner format.

HeatSinkDesigner is thermal software focused on finding the optimal heat sink for a particular application. It will rapidly optimize a custom heat sink design or find the best available off-the-shelf heat sink. HeatSinkDesigner is often used to quickly select heat sinks before creating a CFD model.

New Software: CD-adapco to Unveil STAR-CCM+ V2 at SAE World Congress

CD-adapco CD-adapco, the leading provider of computational fluid dynamics technology to the automotive industry, will be unveiling STAR-CCM+ V2 at this year's SAE World Congress (April 3-6 in Detroit).

Aerodynamic simulation is now a routine part of automotive design. Once regarded as a high-end application, CFD simulation is now used at every stage of a vehicle design from earliest concept to post-production modification. As the value of CFD in the automotive industry has increased, its users have become more demanding, requiring (among other things) automatic geometry repair, fine mesh control, repeatability of calculation and rapid turn-around times.

Business: ANSYS Acquisition of Fluent Delayed

ANSYS CFX ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced that following informal discussions with staff at the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC"), ANSYS has elected to refile its pre-merger notification and report form under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act with respect to its acquisition of Fluent Inc.

ANSYS has withdrawn its original filing and has refiled its Notification and Report Form with the FTC and the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice on March 27, 2006. As a result, the FTC staff will have more time to review the information submitted by ANSYS and Fluent before the staff must determine what additional information, if any, it will request.
