WEG Electric Motor Corporation is the largest Latin American electric motor manufacturer and is present on five continents in more than 60 countries. The company develops a large part of its own technology and has been using CFD to improve products performance.

One particular interest is the cooling systems of electric motors. The cooling system is responsible for keeping the temperature of the internal components within a specific range to maintain or increase the life of the motor.

This is the product's third release in one and a half years, ensuring that it is firmly established as the leading rapid flow modeling and thermal analysis engineering software for engineering designers available today.

FloWizard V2.1 introduces important new capabilities to designers, such as new CAD connections for Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, and UGS' NX, allowing users to send their models to FloWizard with the click of a button. US Treasury Secretary Visits ANSYS

News On a visit to software engineering firm ANSYS Inc., U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow called on the U.S. education system to do a better job of producing better science and math students.

He said innovation, like the type demonstrated by ANSYS engineers, is the engine that will continue to drive the country's economy.

The ANSYS tour also included a roundtable with local technology company executives.

Events: State of the Art in Numerical Grid Generation II

Grid Generation The Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo (IAC) of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Rome is organizing a training course entitled State of the Art in Numerical Grid Generation II - From Theory to Practice. The event will take place in Rome, Italy on October 2-6, 2006.

The basic aim of the course is to provide an overview of the state of the art in numerical grid generation so that all participants attain knowledge in the field.

The European Atelier for Engineering and Computational Sciences, will finance 20 fellowships to participate to the training course and is now soliciting applications.

CD-adapco CD-adapco, the leading global provider of Full-Spectrum flow and thermal simulation software and services, today announced that it has joined the Design/Simulation Council. The Design/Simulation Council is a consortium of manufacturers, suppliers and technology providers focused on improving interoperability and creating open standards within product development and simulation (CAE) technology.

Collaborative Product Data Associates (CPDA), an industry analyst organization that provides in-depth, collaborative research serving the design, engineering, and manufacturing markets, with specific expertise in product lifecycle management (PLM) technologies and processes, hosts the Council.
