CD-adapco Following the success of the recent Internal Combustion Engine Workshop held in Germany, CD-adapco would like to announce a similar event in the US, to be held April 7, 2006 in Detroit, MI.

This event brings together users of CD-adapco’s STAR-CD and es-ice engine simulation products, providing a forum to hear about the latest and forthcoming developments and to discuss technical issues of interest with other users.

The event is open to all users and potential users of STAR-CD and CAE Managers responsible for engine flow and combustion simulation.

Business: Fluent and DEM Solutions Partner to Deliver CFD with Discrete Element Modeling

ANSYS FLUENT Fluent Inc., the world leader in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and services, today confirms it has entered into a partnership with DEM Solutions, a leading developer of DEM (Discrete Element Method) software solutions. The move follows the announcement earlier this year that Fluent Asia Pacific in Japan, the wholly owned subsidiary of Fluent Inc, is delivering DEM Solutions’ EDEM software to the Japanese market.

The result of 10 years R&D, DEM Solutions’ EDEM software enables engineers across a broad spectrum of industries – chemical, pharmaceutical, materials processing, mining, and agriculture – to simulate and analyze the behavior of particulate matter (pills, pellets, aggregates etc) during processing, manufacturing and material handling operations.

ANSYS Joins European SAFEDOR Project

ANSYS CFX ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced its selection as one of four software manufacturers providing expertise to the SAFEDOR project, which is charged with improving the safety, security, environmental impact and competitiveness of Europe’s maritime industry. ANSYS will work in tandem with other SAFEDOR partners to develop innovations applicable to cruise ships, ferries, tankers and container ships.

SAFEDOR (Design, Operation and Regulation for Safety) is a 50-plus-member European consortium whose mission is to provide cost-effective solutions to improve waterborne transport while treating safety as a design objective rather than a constraint.

With this new product, Fluent delivers its rapid flow modeling technology into Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA V5 product lifecycle management (PLM) environment.

By providing a high degree of automation and robustness, rapid flow modeling allows fluid flow analysis to be applied early in the design cycle, resulting in improved design performance and reduced time to market.
