David Dunavant writes "I am wondering if my modeling approach is correct. I have modified thermal conductivity, k, and specific heat, cp, of my fluid based on volume ratios and corresponding properties of metal foam and fluid.
Volumetric flow rate of the fluid is constant. It seems like different pressure drops from different pressure-velocity curves corresponding to different pores per inch (PPI) will not affect thermal performance.
Heat exchange of metal foam is about twice that of conventional baffle-type design. Furthermore pressure drop can be greatly reduced.
Also would appreciate if anyone can provide information about permeability, K, and inertia coefficient, C, of aluminum metal foam since suppliers won't release much information although I do have limited data.
