Help With Porous Medium Modeling

Help Desk Anonymous writes "I have to simulate an aluminum tank that is filled with porous material (e.g- foam). Also, initially, it is filled with liquid (e.g- fuel). There is an outlet at the bottom to drain the liquid from the tank. As the fuel is drained, the vacant pores in the foam are occupied by air. Can anyone suggest me a suitable model to solve this problem. I can use CFD-ACE and Fluent."

Announcements Pointwise is pleased to announce the Gridgen User Group Meeting 2006 will be held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in Irving, Texas on April 24-25, 2006. The meeting will include special Gridgen training seminars and training activities, presentations by Pointwise staff on new Gridgen developments, user presentations, and exhibits by our partners. This is a good opportunity for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) users to learn about the latest Gridgen features, get a glimpse of Gridgen V16, and network with other CFD experts from around the world.

Special Gridgen training seminars are scheduled for Monday, April 24. Tuesday’s sessions will include presentations from the Gridgen user community and from Pointwise staff.

CD-adapco CD-adapco are pleased to invite you to a free webinar demonstrating STAR-Pro/E, a unique product which embeds CD-adapco's world leading Computational Fluid Dynamics technology within the Pro/ENGINEER CAD package. This webinar should be attended by Engineers and Product Designers who are interested in incorporating fluid and heat transfer simulation into their design process, as well as existing CFD users looking to streamline their current CFD simulation process.

The meeting will include special visualization training seminars, presentations on new software developments by CEI staff, exhibits by our partners, and user presentations. This will be a great opportunity to learn about the latest visualization features, get a preview of future developments, and network with other visualization experts.

Application: Computer Simulation Optimizes Displacement Ventilation System in a School Auditorium

Computer simulation played a key role in the optimization of a displacement ventilation system in a school auditorium by helping to reconfigure the locations of the diffusers and the exhausts in order to eliminate unnecessary air flow. Displacement ventilation systems, which locate the air supply on the floor instead of the ceiling, are gaining popularity in North America because they are more efficient and require less energy to maintain a given level of comfort. However, displacement ventilation systems are generally more difficult to design due to several inherent issues like the need to avoid temperature gradients and drafts with the air supply located near the people.

CD-adapco CD-adapco, celebrating their 25th anniversary within the CAE business, will be presenting the latest CAE/CFD technology at the 2nd STAR Deutschland Konferenz on November 7-8, 2005 at the Munich Marriott Hotel, Munich, Germany.

The Conference will provide a forum for CD-adapco to communicate future developments to the CFD community. Prof. Peric, Director of Technology at CD-adapco for example, will present the latest developments in the areas of physical modelling and solver methods.
