New Software: Fluent and ABAQUS Announce Availability of Fluid-Structure Interaction Capability

ANSYS FLUENT Fluent Inc., the leading provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation software and services, and ABAQUS, Inc., the leading supplier of software and services for advanced finite element structural analysis (FEA), have announced the availability of new software capability for simulation of fluid-structure interaction (FSI).

Using recently released software from both companies (ABAQUS 6.5 and FLUENT 6.2), the new FSI capability fills a gap in the market by enabling users to solve complex multidisciplinary design problems involving coupled fluid flow and structural phenomena using leading technologies from their respective domains and backed by the two most highly respected support teams in the industry.

Post Processing Desktop Engineering has posted an interview with Tecplot CEO Mike Peery on the data visualization challenges facing engineers.
The result of CFD simulation, for example, is a set of numbers that has no physical meaning until it’s visualized in graphs, images, and animations. For visualization software to be effective, it must provide advanced technical plotting tools that help visualize simulation results in a convenient and efficient way. It must allow the user to concentrate on his numerical model, not the visual output.

ACUITIV Visualization Software Discontinued

News Fuel-Tech has announced [pdf] the discontinuation of their CFD visualization product ACUITIV introduced in 2002. One of ACUITIV's key features was support for immersive environments such as the CAVE. The software was characterized as an interactive, enterprise-class CFD visualization solution for industries worldwide, including automotive, aerospace & defense, power, and chemical processing.

Fuel-Tech will offer the CFD visualization technology to interested third parties for further commercialization.

New Software: FLUENT 6.2 Raises the Industry Standard for CFD
