Application VTT Processes, one of six research units of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, applies the latest research techniques to the sort of challenges and problems that face the energy and process industries, such as decreasing emissions and controlling climate changes, introducing production processes that require even less resources and using an increasing amount of renewable and recycled raw materials.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a crucial tool for the Center, which works closely with the diesel engine industry and requires increasingly accurate ways to measure fluid flow to improve performance and reduce emissions. There are twenty CFD engineers working at VTT Processes on various applications, many of whom use the powerful CFD solver, STAR-CD from the CD adapco Group.

Post Processing CEI has released version 7.6 of EnSight and EnSight Gold, with 100 new features, higher-performance algorithms, and user interface upgrades for greater control and automation. EnSight and EnSight Gold are software for visualizing, analyzing and communicating computational results for automotive, aerospace, chemical and scientific visualization problems.

The new features, increased performance, and greater ease-of-use are the result of six months of internal and beta testing, according to Kent Misegades, CEI's president.

"This release consolidates a huge number of features requested by our customers over the past year," says Misegades. "It's all about being able to do a whole lot more in less time and with less hassle."

Events: CFD Meshing Seminar
Posted Thu June 19, 2003 @04:20PM

Grid Generation ICEM CFD will hold a free one day seminar on the ICEM CFD meshing tools. The semiar is scheduled for July 30, 2003 at the Royal Air Force Museum, Cosford, UK.

The seminar will cover the core ICEM CFD mesh generation tools as well as some new vertical applications such as ICEM CFD CART3D. The biggest advantage of the core meshing systems over existing tools is the ability to handle poor CAD data. ICEM CFD can mesh CAD with holes and overlaps as well as meshing over 'sliver surfaces'. In many cases, users can completely remove the 'CAD Clean-Up' phase from their process which reduces time and therefore costs.

To see the tools in action and have the opportunity to discuss your requirements in detail please register your interest as soon as possible as spaces are limited.

After the seminar there will be a tour of the Aerospace Museum that includes an extensive collection of WWII aircraft as well as a flight simulator.
