The new FloWorks Basic module provides fundamental fluid flow analysis capabilities such as internal and external flow, incompressible and compressible flow, laminar and turbulent flow as well as steady state flow and heat transfer analysis. The module is priced at $3,995 per seat in North America.

The new FlowWorks PE module expands on the basic module with more control of the mesh and solver settings in order to further optimize analysis effort and computation time. The PE module also includes their novel EFD zooming feature.

EFD zooming allows the engineer to use the analysis results of a complex model as boundary conditions for a local region within the same model. The system will then perform more detailed analysis on the local region (smaller mesh size and tighter convergence criteria). This feature thereby allows the engineer to use a coarse mesh for the entire model and a much finer mesh in the regions of interest.

EnSight's ability to plot multiple time-dependent phenomena simultaneously allows us to show students how shock formation and location impact such parameters as lift and drag, says Maj. Doug Blake, assistant professor of aeronautics at the Air Force Academy. We are always looking for new ways to teach students. Several faculty members are involved in CFD research at the Academy, and as we obtain results, we try to incorporate them into the classroom.

The combination allows engineers to create an advanced hexahedral mesh while maintaining full associativity with the CATIA design and analysis model.

The integration with ‘ICEM CFD Hexa’ will provide CATIA V5 designers and experts with easy-to-use and associative hexahedral meshing for FEA & CFD analysis. This will strongly improve customer product quality and functional performances said Gérard Lecina, Director, CATIA CAE Division.

The conference is designed for current CFD users and those interested in learning how CFD can be utilized in their industry. The seminar is entitled "Modelling of Turbulence" and will run in parallel to the conference.

The Kinema package, PLASMATOR, provides a complete chemistry database, including collision cross-sections, attachment, recombination, ionization and dissociation. Extensive reaction sets can include 100 reactions and as many as 50 species.

CFD software from Fluent is then used to model the interaction of neutral flows and the plasma discharge in 3D.
