The meeting will include discussion forums where people interested in fluid and structural dynamics can gather, user presentations, updates on the latest AVL simulation technology, and the chance to meet with the entire AVL AST development team.

[John] Ditter joined Flow Science in 1992. He will be responsible for software engineering, hardware needs and customer support & training. Prior to joining the company, he worked at McDonnell Douglas Space Systems Company. He graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and earned a master's degree in theoretical and applied mechanics from the University of Illinois in 1986.

[Robin] Berry joined Flow Science as financial manager in January 2001. Prior to joining the company, she worked with the public accounting firm of Betts, Bishop & Loggains and worked as financial manager at Sol y Sombra. She will be responsible for Flow Science’s accounting, financial planning, budgeting, tax planning, and human resources matters.

With Dr. C.W. Hirt, Chief Technologist and founder of the company, Ditter and Berry form the core of the company’s planning and development efforts. All report to the president of the company, Mr. Thomas S. Jensen.

The system uses a digital flat panel display to yield true depth perception provided by Stereo3D technology. The system works by separating the left and right eye frames for display on even and odd pixels. By lighting the pixels at an angle from behind, the correct frame is viewed by each eye delivering the same effect as the bulky glasses.

By several accounts this technology works well and gives the user a realistic 3D experience. By removing the requirement for eyewear, the new system allows several people to share the experience at once. Until I get mine, I'll have to rely on 3D "perspective" viewing.

The conference will allow FLOW-3D users to meet and exchange ideas, bring together industry specialists, and see demonstrations of leading edge technology. In conjunction with the conference an advanced training course will be held.

• Advanced simulation of automotive heat exchangers, including radiators, heaters, charge air coolers, condensers, evaporators and others.
• Analysis of engine compartment flow and heat transfer, including fan modeling, thermal radiation and boundary conditions.
• Analysis of passenger compartment flow and heat transfer, including transient analyses, solar radiation, and initial and boundary conditions.
• Analysis of automotive windshield de-icing and defogging.
