The AEA Technology CFX Community web site has a new look and enhanced sections for software issues and FAQ's.
The community website provides users of CFX products and services with up to the minute technical information on our software, plus background news on current CFX developments.
Note: You must license CFX in order to access the community site.

| Prof Milovan Peric Joins CD adapco Group |

A very well known figure in the CFD world has joined
the CD adapco Group.
Prof Milovan Peric, the well known expert on CFD and co-author (with J H Ferziger) of one the most widely-referenced books in our field 'Computational Methods for Fluid Mechanics' has joined the international development team of the CD adapco Group.
We are truly honoured that Milovan has confirmed his
commitment to us by deciding to give up his professorship at Harburg-Hamburg University to focus his efforts on the development of STAR-CD and Comet. He joins Prof Ismet Demirdzic and Dr Samir Muzaferija within the partnership
recently formed between our Group and ICCM.

In a deal announced June 25, Compaq and Intel have joined to "Accelerate Enterprise Server Roadmaps". Under the agreement, Compaq will:
- transition all 64-bit technical workstations, departmental servers, and enterprise class servers to Intel Itanium processors by 2004
- port and support Tru64 UNIX, OpenVMS and NonStop Kernel operating systems and development tools on Itanium
- transfer significant Alpha microprocessor and compiler technology, tools and resources to Intel (in a non-exclusive manner)
- will deliver an additional generation of Alpha technology (EV7) to advance system performance prior to the new generation of the Itanium-based systems
While some have embraced this as A Good ThingTM for low-cost high-powered computing, others mourn the loss of a chip which has lead the workstation performance race for 10 years. Some people suggest that this "event marks the beginning of a spiraling process of self-cannibalization by Compaq, similar to the final years of DEC".

The 2001 Fluent Automotive Users' Group Meeting will be held July 24-25 in Novi, Michigan.
The agenda includes, Fluent product reports (including the modeling advances to be released in Fluent V6), user presentations, discussions on modeling external aerodynamics, underhood thermal management, acoustics, multiphase, and powertrain applications, and on-site training in modeling turbulence and turbomachinery.
