News Centre for Computational Technologies (CCTech) today announced their joining of the massive open online course (MOOC) movement by making the LearnCAx platform FREE for CFD learning.

“LearnCAx has been started with the vision to Inspire, Educate and Mentor engineers globally” said CCTech CEO Sandip Jadhav. "LearnCAx becoming a MOOC will provide broader access to professional CFD education and achieve our vision to educate engineers across the globe. We believe it is now possible for LearnCAx to provide CFD courses on a vast scale and open higher education to hundreds of thousands more students.”

"This new avatar offers us an opportunity to not only open educational doors to people who may not otherwise have an opportunity to learn, but to also showcase the innovative work by our faculty" said CCTech COO Vijay Mali.

“The paradigm shift will help LearnCAx to focus on most difficult part in CFD education i.e. mentoring a CFD learner. There is big void when students want to get mentored for a project. Today there are millions of CFD references on the web. There is a need for a structured online learning platform. LearnCAx plans to build the CFD mentoring platform which helps students to transit from academics to profession with thermal and fluid CFD expertise. The mentoring platform would help students to choose an appropriate CFD project, find correct references, define the physics, solve using correct simulation tools and interpret final results for achieving design goals.”

LearnCAx is already being used by students and professional from around 120 countries. It has 6000 active subscribers learning from 18 different courses. Supporting so many students is always a big challenge. Therefore LearnCAx support is now moving from a one-to-one support model to a community-based support model. LearnCAx has a newly developed support forum which will be fully supported by the LearnCAx team. This will also help students and working professionals to solve their problems directly. We hope it will help other subscribers to enrich their knowledge through the discussion forum.

There are opportunities for the CFD community to come forward and support LearnCAx by sponsoring our courses and advertising their products on LearnCAx portal. Students can support LearnCAx efforts by purchasing course notes and small certification fees.
